Moffatt & Nichol is actively searching for a Civil Engineer with roadway design emphasis to join our Mid-Atlantic operations; this role can work from our Raleigh, NC, or Richmond, VA. Our ideal candidate has 1-5 years of experience delivering civil engineering designs and plans in a wide variety of projects which may include site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, hydrology and hydraulics, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities. Duties and responsibilities: - Contributes to general civil engineering design, including roadway, paving, grading, drainage, H & H, water and sanitary sewer - Experience with Microstation and Geopak Drainage - Experience with erosion and sediment control desired - Numerical hydraulic and hydrologic modeling experience desired, including HEC-HMS, HEC-1, HEC-RAS, HEC-2, HY-8, SWMM, TR-55, and TR-20 - Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel - Contributes to the development of accurate cost estimates and engineering mathematical computations - Prepares design drawings and specifications - Contributes to the development of engineering reports and specifications - Exercises sound independent judgment within general policy guidelines - Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with team members and clients - Ability to plan and complete concurrent work assignments within established budgets and timelines - Ability to perform limited field observations in support of construction and data collection - Occasional requirement to work above 40 hours to meet deadlines or for field assignments Other duties: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
