The Clinical Supervisor, in collaboration with and under the direction of the Nursing Department Director/Manager, is accountable for operations of a clinical department and for nursing care safety and quality. The Clinical Supervisor supports comprehensive patient and family services through effective participation with the interdisciplinary team. The Clinical Supervisor also coaches and guides employees through education to staff in real time and planned education sessions. The Clinical Supervisor demonstrates Professionalism and Excellence by performing as a role model for clinical and service excellence. Nurse Practitioners are registered nurses with advanced education and clinical competency necessary for the delivery of comprehensive primary health and medical care to individuals and families.
EDUCATION: Masters of Science in Nursing.Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program with ACNP degree
CERTIFICATION/LICENSES: Current licensure and certification required by the state of New Mexico to practice as a nurse practitioner; current DEA license, and current BLS/ACLS NRP/PALS certification required. Will maintain a current PALS/NRP if applicable to area. Current TNCC if applicable to area or obtain within 6 months. BLS, ACLS and PALS must be issued through American Heart Association. Current credentialing through CSV Medical Staff Office.
Performs and writes history and physical examinations.
In collaboration with attending physician, consulting physician, develops plan of care, writes orders for medications, therapies and diagnostic tests.
Makes rounds, enters progress notes and documents patient care information accurately and timely in accordance with SVH policies.
Maintains patient confidentiality.
Triages calls from patients and emergency room.
Responds to emergencies, including use of BLS/CPR and ACLS and ,NRP/ PALS
Analyzes diagnostic test results and responses to therapeutics.
Maintains continuity of care through communication with all members of the health care team.
Educates patients and families regarding disease processes and self-care
Oversees discharge planning and discharge orders.
Performs additional advanced procedures as may be specifically granted by the Board of Directors.
Maintains and demonstrates competency in all performance and credentialing requirements of a Certified Nurse Practitioner.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of experience post-graduation in an inpatient setting preferred.
NATURE OF SUPERVISION:
-Responsible to Clinical Director of Pediatrics and the Supervising/Chief of Pediatrics
- Bloodborne pathogen C
Requires knowledge of general safety standards to limit exposure to infectious disease. Works in both clinic and hospital settings with constant exposure to body fluids and infectious diseases.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Physical ability to work and stand frequently for extended periods of time and occasionally to lift and position patients. Able to move throughout clinic and hospital if necessary.
