In 2011, Portland Parks and Recreation (PP&R) was honored with a gold medal and designated as the 'Best Park System in the United States' by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA). An essential part of this gold medal parks system is a robust set of community recreation facilities and programs. PP&R is building upon this award-winning system by seeking candidates for a Recreation Supervisor at a community center. Community Centers and their programs are key within the Recreation Services Division, which includes community centers, sports, aquatics, specialized programs, arts, culture, and special events programs, along with enterprise programs such as golf and the Portland International Raceway. The Recreation Supervisor provides leadership, operational oversight and relationship management in recreational, enrichment and leisure activities for city residents. These positions are responsible for the development and delivery of a wide assortment of programs to meet a broad range of interests for varied individuals and diverse communities. The Recreation Supervisor promotes workplace diversity and a positive employee relations environment supervising a diverse workforce and working environment. This position is responsible for the ongoing development and production of recreation and leisure programs and activities; fiscal budget development and management; safe and effective operation; proactive communication, marketing and outreach to individuals, groups, organizations and partners. This position will require a person who has the ability to work in a multicultural environment, promoting community and individual health and lifestyles.
