Camp K on Kenai Lake Our co-ed, residential camp is nestled along the shores of beautiful Kenai Lake near Cooper Landing where the scenery blends rustic Alaskan wilderness with updated facilities. Our camp has a unique mix of traditional and specialty camp programs for youth age 6-17, including camps with accommodations for children with family, behavioral, or medical challenges. What we do: Primary duties are to foster positive youth development in a community of caring adults and peers through skill development and leadership opportunities in the outdoors. Age-appropriate programs include overnight campouts,campfires with stories, skits, songs and games, outdoor cooking, evening programs, nature and survival, target sports (archery, riflery, atl-atls, blowguns), group, teambuilding and field games, arts and crafts, drama, swimming, boating, hiking, and off-camp trips rafting and horseback riding. Special opportunities to become a Polar Bear, be a Book Worm, or Crazy Utensil Dinner provide new surprises each week. Who we need: A successful staff member at Camp K exhibits a positive attitude, flexibility, and a willingness to provide a high quality of customer service to campers,fellow staff, parents, visitors, community members, and user groups. Experience in outdoor pursuits, such as camping and hiking is helpful, but more important is a willingness to learn and lead these activities with positivity throughout all types of weather! We reside in a close, residential community where you will be expected to act as a positive role model with professionalism throughout your stay,and to sacrifice some personal privacy and comforts through shared sleeping, shower, and eating facilities. When we do it: Summer Program Director, Facilities Manager: May 1-Aug.18; Assistant Director(s), Camp Nurse, Kitchen Manager: May 15- Aug. 9; Program Specialists, Kitchen Assistants: May 18-Aug. 9; Counselors, Lifeguards: May 22-Aug. 4. Camp Nurse (1 position): This position directs care of all camp participants and staff; manages camp health plan; reviews health histories; dispenses medications; coordinates with camp staff, parents, and local physicians to manage camper care; responds to first aid needs at camp; and maintains the health facility and equipment in excellent condition. Live on the premises of Camp K. Acting as part of the camp leadership team, the Camp Nurse will provide a high-quality camp experience and excellent customer service to program participants, parents and visitors. Pay Range: TBA Requirements: Minimum age 21; RN, or higher for the State of Alaska (application by endorsement from other states is available); current CPR/AED for the professional rescuer; demonstrated skills and interest in working with children.
