The Children's Learning Center at UWM is located on campus and serves children ages 6 weeks through 12 years of age. The Center serves the University community with both flexible and full-time schedules. It is a unique and complex program with more than 300 children. The UWM Children's Learning Center is slated to open two new rooms for infants and toddlers in spring 2019 and is looking to hire a new teacher to fill the open position. Job Summary The Lead Teacher is responsible for curriculum, staff performance, environment and communication in a year-round, full-day infant or toddler classroom. The person in this position is responsible for understanding and communicating the needs of children and their families, and the interrelationship between these needs and the Center. Teachers must maintain in-service and continuing education requirements as mandated by state licensing and NAEYC accreditation. Appointment/Salary: This position comes with a competitive salary and benefit package. The final salary offer is dependent upon each individual finalist's experience and qualifications. This is a 12-month full-time appointment designated as fixed-term renewable non-teaching academic staff. Minimum Qualifications * A Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education or NAEYC equivalent required upon start date * Certification in hands-on Pediatric First Aid, AED and CPR required upon start date and must be maintained during incumbency. Preferred Qualifications * A minimum of two years documented experience teaching children under three years of age * Completed coursework in infant/toddler curriculum and/or development * Documented experience in a campus child care program * Evidence of strong communication and organizational skills * Evidence of the ability to work well in a complex, team environment with both professional and student staff * Evidence of a working knowledge of child development * Documented ability to apply knowledge of child development to both curriculum development and its implementation in the classroom * The ability to understand and communicate children's development and needs to families. * ???????????????????????
