Position Summary

The role of the Executive Director of Facilities will provide leadership to support preventative and corrective maintenance programs, facilities resource planning, managing the central utility plant, capital planning, master planning, calibration, and CAD. The Executive Director is responsible for the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of the physical plant in accordance with State of Florida, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations.

The Executive Director will provide oversight and act as owner rep for construction and remodeling with direction from organizational leadership. The role may also require presentations to top management, public groups and /or board of directors.

The Executive Director responds to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. He/she is expected to be an active contributor in all customer service initiatives and be proactive in providing hospitality to all BRRH's patients, families, visitors, employees and physicians.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

* Expected to be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
* Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office and any other programs related to the type of work in the department.

Leadership

* Demonstrate leadership and guidance in the development, implementation, and evaluation of services in the department.
* Provide overall planning, control, organization, and monitoring of services and the employees within these areas.
* Expected to plan, organize, and direct the provision of services within the assigned department(s) to assure compliance with the organization's policies and procedures as well as The Joint Commission and appropriate regulatory agencies.
* Develop short-term and long-term goals and objectives for areas of responsibilities in accordance with those of the hospital and interpret these to the staff.
* Comply with and support all department policies, procedures, projects, and activities to ensure the effective utilization of department resources and the ongoing success of department operations.
* Direct the process of interviewing, hiring, and assuring evaluation and competency of all personnel for areas of responsibility.
* Direct and analyze staffing schedules to increase efficiency as well as develop, implement, and manage the departmental budgets
* Engender enthusiasm, intellectual excitement, and an empowered professional staff.
* Demonstrate efficient organizational and time management skills through consistent patterns of work behavior and positive representation.
* Expected to make decisions and use independent judgment.

Performance Improvement

* Provide oversight for operational excellence of all assigned activities to ensure the cost-effectiveness and efficient delivery of quality services and/or outcomes required to meet the expectations of those utilizing or impacted by the department.
* Develop and implement a plan for an effective, interdisciplinary, and ongoing program for quality assessment and performance improvement in the areas of responsibility.
* Demonstrate proficiency with and understanding of all primary and secondary technologies commonly used.
* Pursue, in a creative manner, continuous quality improvements, which increase customer satisfaction and organizational financial performance.
* Expected to adapt procedures and utilize available resources to maintain quality services and to meet changing requirements.
* Follow all facility, organization and department precautions, and procedures in the performance of all job duties to ensure a safe work environment for self and others.

Education/Experience/Licensure Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related field, Master's Degree strongly preferred.

Work Experience:

Minimum of 5 years in a Director level role of a 400+ bed acute care hospital or Assistant Director for a larger hospital required with a performance record experience with large scale medical facility construction related programs and systems, and extensive knowledge of State of Florida building Code, Federal, and Joint Commission regulations.

Licensure/Regulation/Certification:

Member of ASHE, ASRAE, or HESNI.

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), Certified Facility Manager (CFM), and/or Project Management Professional Certification (PMP) preferred.

Florida Contractor License preferred.

* Incumbent may be required to perform emergency duty before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency, crisis situation or disaster (man-made or natural) including evacuation sites.
* The person in this position will work in a smoke-free location, and is expected to adhere to all smoking restrictions.
* In the spirit of wellness for both our employees and patients, Boca Raton Regional Hospital has instituted a mandatory influenza prevention vaccination program. Current employees must receive the influenza prevention vaccination free of charge during the recognized flu season.
