Our continued growth has created the need for a Technical Sales Engineer to join our Sales Team.Position OverviewThe Technical Sales Engineer is a key role at In Control that leads development of solution proposals for customers. The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining relationships with customers, identifying and pursuing sales opportunities, and development of written proposals and associated cost estimates. To be successful, candidates must be able to identify improvement opportunities for automation control systems in industrial and utility facilities, develop a detailed controls solution, and sell that solution to the customer.This is a senior-level role and experience with industrial electrical and/or automation system industry is required. In addition, some travel with overnight stays is required. This position offers competitive pay and an excellent comprehensive benefits package.Responsibilities and Duties* Establish and maintain productive relationships with system end-users, consulting engineers, general and electrical contractors, as well as equipment vendors.--Serve as point of contact for existing and prospective customers prior to sale.* Research and develop new business opportunities with new and existing customers.* Manage sales process through opportunity identification, proposal development, bidding, contract negotiation, and handoff to Operations after sale and Purchase Order receipt. * Interpret Engineered Project Manual, including project plans, specifications, schematics, other project information, and generate project solution as basis for bid package.* Lead development of project cost estimate that includes labor, materials, and other relevant costs that account for quantities, size, configurations, and options.* Attend on-site pre-bid meetings and record relevant project information.* Lead writing of detailed, accurate, and grammatically correct project proposals.* Determine bidding strategy including recruitment of project partners who will receive proposal. Monitor bid activity throughout bidding process and adjust bid strategy as needed.* Support Operations with change order management as required.* Stay current on industry trends, changing market and regulatory requirements, and product lines and their respective applications.* Attend industry conferences and other events representing In Control.* Other duties as assigned.Qualifications* Working knowledge of product lines and technical solutions for water & wastewater industry and/or food and beverage industry.--Common products include Program Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) software, Motor Control Centers (MCCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), Radio Telemetry, and Network Communications.* Possess a customer-centric focus, entrepreneurial and competitive mindset, and the ability to self-manage work with limited supervision.--Candidate must be results-oriented.* Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail is imperative.* Able to prioritize work and manage time efficiently without continuous direct supervision.* Advanced communication skills to support oral and written communications with vendors, customers, engineers, contractors, and fellow employees.* Minimum of a two-year electrical technology degree or equivalent and ten (10) years of relevant experience in a technical field. Additional years of relevant experience in a related field may substitute for formal technical education.* Legal authorization to work in the US is required. * Travel is required (up to 40%).Technical Capabilities* Strong computer skills with experience using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.--Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems preferred.* Proficient at reading and interpreting technical project documents including project specifications and schematics.* Detailed knowledge of electrical systems, automation systems, and fluid processes.
