K-12 Literacy Coordinator JobID: 3452 -- Position Type: ---- Administration Date Posted: ---- 7/21/2020 Location: ---- District Wide Date Available: ---- 08/24/2020 Closing Date: ---- 08/04/2020 Position Purpose:-- The K-12 Literacy Coordinator collaborates with the Director of Standards-based Instruction, Literacy Facilitators, Building Principals and teacher leaders to establish a K-12 vision for literacy instruction.-- Once a shared vision is clearly articulated, the K-12 Literacy Coordinator will oversee the planning and implementation of literacy-focused district level school improvement efforts. -- Responsibilities ---------------- 1.--Program Development and Management: Assists the Director of Standards-based Instruction in providing instructional literacy leadership to the district. Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist administration in managing the district's literacy programs. Priority: Essential ---Percent of Time: 50% Examples of this work include: Establishes a K-12 vision for effective literacy instruction in all classrooms.Oversees curriculum writing for ELA content areas.Facilitates scorecard work of 6-12 ELA and Social Studies teacher leader teams.Collaborates with building administrators to support effective literacy instruction (Tier 1) and interventions (Tier 2 and Tier 3).Serves as the lead point of contact for current and future literacy grants.Collaborates with Literacy Facilitators to plan and implement grant activities.Presents literacy data and narrative with building and district administrators and the school board. -------- -------- 2.--Data Coach: using data to improve literacy instruction. Priority: Essential ---Percent of Time: 20% Examples of this work include: Sets district school improvement goals to improve student outcomes.Analyzes K-12 literacy data and monitor progress toward goals.Collects artifacts to share a narrative about literacy successes and challenges.Collaborates with the MTSS Coordinator to implement effective literacy interventions. -------- -------- 3.--Professional Development and Classroom Support: support, feedback, and reflection. Priority: Essential ---Percent of Time: 20% Examples of this work include: Identifies essential literacy skills for administrators, teachers, and instructional support staff.Plans and implements professional development and coaching to support effective literacy instruction.Participates in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district. -------- -------- 4.--Supervisory Responsibilities: carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the District's policies and applicable laws. Priority: Essential ---Percent of Time: 10% Examples of this work include: Interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; rewarding and disciplining assigned staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems.Evaluates and counsels all assigned staff members regarding their individual performance and provides for effective recorded evaluation reports of staff according to district adopted procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities -- Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in EducationMinimum of two years of successful teaching experienceHold or have the ability to obtain applicable ND teaching licensureDemonstrated experience collaborating with peers in the area(s) of curriculum development, educational philosophy, or data analysis Preferred Qualifications Five or more years teaching experience in secondary educationMaster's degree in Education with a literacy focusExperience in the areas of special education and dual language Schedule: 12-month position Salary : From $82,000 to $95,000--commensurate with experience -- To Apply: Log on to www.applitrack.com/fargo/onlineapp to view current vacancies and complete our online application.
