Full Time - Certified Head Ophthalmic Technician - ReFocus Eye Health - Meriden & Bloomfield, CTReFocus Eye Health is searching for an experienced, certified Head Ophthalmic Technician to add to our growing and busy practice.--Under supervision of the ophthalmologists, the Head Ophthalmic Technician is responsible for assisting the ophthalmologists by gathering data pertaining to the patient's visual status and maintaining an environment conductive to the delivery of efficient, quality patient care. Further the right candidate will provide strong leadership and guidance to the ophthalmic technicians and assistants within the practice.--Responsibilities:Effectively perform appropriate clinical testings such as Visual Acuity Testing, Visual Field Testing, Lensometry, Automated Refractometry, Pupil Assessment; Gross External Examination, eye drop instillation. Pachymetry, Keratometry, Manifest Refractometry, OCT, HRT, Corneal Topography, Slit lamp photography, fundus photography, Ocular motility testing and performs additional more advanced skills Lead, train and mentor technical staff including technicians, assistants and scribesOrganize and prioritize work to ensure completion in a timely mannerStandardize protocols for the department in accordance to the practice ophthalmologistsIdentify areas or improvement in current process and procedures that will enhance overall patient careHave analytical ability to understand and apply complex ophthalmic procedures and follow detailed instructions from the ophthalmologistMust have excellent interpersonal skills necessary to relate to patients in a sympathetic and tactful manner and allay patient apprehensionsMust be able to skillfully management and leadership abilitiesExcellent English communication skills (oral and written).--Bilingual English/Spanish a plusBasic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to access, enter, and interpret computerized data/information.Optimistic attitude, strong customer service focus, and willing to work as a contributing member of a teamRequirements:High school diploma or equivalent requiredPreferably one to two years education beyond high school (graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant, Ophthalmic Medical Technology, Ophthalmic Assistant, or Allied Health Professional program or equivalent preferred)Certification required. Requires current national certification through the Joint Commission of Allied Health Professionals in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO) in at least one--of the following:Certified Ophthalmic Assistant orCertified Ophthalmic Technician orCertified Ophthalmic Medical TechnologistRequires 4 + years of previous experience working as an ophthalmic assistant or technician.--Experience would include--history taking, ophthalmic patient services, general medical knowledge, and visual acuity testing, visual field testing, lensometry, color vision testing, extraocular muscle testing, and tonometry, as well as, various other more complex skillsAt least 1 year of managing/leading a team of ophthalmic technicians/assistants.ReFocus is offering a generous benefits and compensation package to the right candidate.ReFocus Eye Health isn't just vision.
