Our Dealership is looking for a customer-focused, knowledgeable, and effective leader to inspire and supervise a team of technicians, service writers, and porters. There have been several changes in this department over the last few years, so the ideal candidate will be up to the challenging of reorganizing and establishing work distribution and quality management. This position in a working manager role, so the manager will be responsible and accountable to ensure optimal performance levels and profitability are achieved while delivering the highest quality of service and customer satisfaction. Required Skills Demonstrated staff leadership and management and mentoring skills, Strong selling and customer service skills in a retail environment; Conflict resolution skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and technicians; Ability to perform multiple tasks. Temperament with an ability to perform in a professional manner with a smile and a positive attitude. The Service Manager must be able to safely maneuver and drive a vehicle. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Allocating and apportioning work for all technicians Scheduling technicians and ensuring appropriate coverage to meet customers needs Reviewing technicians' work for accuracy and completeness Responsible for managing the production workflow to ensure that profitability, productivity and customer goals are achieved Assisting in diagnosis of difficult vehicles and uses such knowledge to further train and develop staff Recruiting, training, motivating, developing and retaining qualified employees and has ensures technicians are working at high levels, delivering quality service and customer satisfaction Supervising general service work, including tire and oil changes Delivering quality work on time, every time to the customers to ensure long term growth in sales and profits Responding to all questions, problems and requests in an attentive, helpful and timely manner Ensuring equipment is well maintained and maintaining a safe and clean store environment. Follow all operation procedures to protect our assets (i.e., OSHA rules, hazardous waste, wearing safety glasses and filing timely paperwork) Ensuring office records and all returns and core records are adequately maintained Any other task assigned by General Manager or Owner Education and Experience High school diploma or its equivalent; Automotive-industry experience and expertise (auto repair, customer service and sales); Auto repair skills, preferably ASE certifications; A professional personal appearance; Strong oral and written communication skills; and an ability to read and comprehend instructions and information. The Service Manager must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Working Conditions Work is fast-paced in an Indoor/Outdoor, customer-oriented environment. This position requires stooping, bending and moving throughout the service department. An employee must lift up to 60 pounds and will be exposed to noise, vibration, dust, exhaust fumes and other hazardous and non-hazardous materials. This position may involve lifting tires in the tire storage area, which has high shelves. Road-testing vehicles also may be required. This position may have a sign-on bonus for the right candidate.
