This position is primarily responsible for accounting processes and procedures, recording financial transactions, and preparing and reviewing financial reconciliations in support of a complete, timely and accurate financial close cycle. The position will also prepare financial analyses as directed to support the business' functional leaders in making key operational decisions.ResponsibilitiesMonthly Close:Prepare timely and accurate journal entries according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other regulatory requirements.Prepare and maintain accurate Balance Sheet reconciliations each month.Maintain appropriate documentation and position memos needed to support the recording of business transactions.Identify and understand variances generated in the monthly close process, taking action as needed, to correct errors or to inform management of findings.Establish, maintain, and coordinate the implementation of accounting and internal control procedures.Assist with providing accurate information and responding timely to inquiries from the Company's Internal and External Auditors.Financial Reporting:Compile, review and distribute accurate standardized, routine reporting on a timely basis to support the financial close process.Research and respond timely to inquiries from other team members, including store personnel, regarding the accuracy of financial information and reports.FP&A/Budgeting:Prepare and present period-ending analyses (e.g. - variance analysis) and reporting on key business initiatives to support management.Create ad hoc financial analyses and reports to senior management to support and recommend business decisions.Conduct, perform, report, and present, special financial studies as directed in coordination with other departments.Assist in the development of annual budgets and monthly forecasts, analyzing financial performance, establishing goals and developing recommendations on profit, expense and cost saving opportunities.QualificationsExperience: 3+ years of related accounting and finance experience is required. Retail experience is preferred.Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field is preferred. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.Professional Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification preferred.Other knowledge, skills or abilities:Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.Knowledge of business intelligence software, specifically Business Objects.
