Our client, a very well respected, foodservice wholesaler has introduced a tremendous opportunity for a Senior Payroll Accountant to work at its Headquarters location in College Point, NY. At present, the organization has over 10,000 employees nationally.Since the 1970's our client has provided top quality foodservice and retail products to thousands of customers giving them the opportunity to lower their costs and simplify their shopping with selection, value and convenience.ResponsibilitiesPerform the daily operations within the Payroll Department.Responsible for understanding--garnishments, unemployment reporting,--time-off reporting and generating standard and ad hoc reports.Responsible for balancing payroll runs and communicating transfers for ADP's services.Performing timely and accurate preparation of weekly payroll for entire company via ADP; ensuring employees are paid in compliance to state laws and company policies.Create monthly variance analysis of payroll and payroll-vendor related expendituresProvide ongoing internal and external audit requestsPreparing variance analytics and support the forecasting of payroll and payroll-related costsMaintaining and update payroll system tables and configurations.Monitoring system performance and ensure system and data integrity.Providing support in the Month/Quarter/Year end processes and/or audits.Preparation of monthly reporting to executive leadership/ownership of KPIs related to headcount and compensationSupporting business users in the identification and resolution of payroll system and process issues.Supporting conversion and acquisition location implementations as it relates to the payroll system.Must be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects or assignments that are moderately complex in nature where professional judgment is required in solving problems and making recommendations.Assisting with other jobs as needed.Responsible for processing payroll.Assists with the supervision and management of the team.Develops a thorough knowledge of time and attendance systems.Develops a knowledge of all necessary payrolling laws.Manage union reconcilliations .ComplianceResponsible for coordinating and responding to inquiries with payroll provider related to payroll tax filingsCompliance support liaison (corporate governance, state registrations, etc.)Import/Export compliance managementKnow-Your-Company (KYC) complianceVendor complianceOther Accounting DutiesPreparation of bi-weekly and monthly journal entries related to payroll, bonuses, commissions, 401(k) and other compensation arrangementsPreparation of monthly payroll, bonus, commission, and other compensation general ledger account reconciliationsHandling all withholding tax issues including quarterly and annual balancing.Assure timely an accurate filing of all federal, state and local taxes in various states where the company has employees.Ensure accuracy and completeness of state withholding, applicable rates and unemployment tax registrationsResearch and resolve tax agency notices--Ideal candidate will have three or more years of payroll accounting experience with----thorough knowledge of ADP software. AS / BS Degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Mathematics or Economics or equivalent experience is required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required in order to respond to employee payroll issues and to facilitate clear and concise communication.--Candidate must have the ability to work independently with strong time management and organization skills. Must be well versed with standard payroll concepts, practices and procedures.--Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred. Must have HR knowledge as it relates to payroll. Experience with Labor Contracts , Accounting,----ADP,----Time & Attendance Processing Collection--.--Experience in a retail sales environment preferred. Ability to exercise individual judgment in researching problems and resolving employee issues with a sense of urgency to meet strict deadlines. Must have a strong internal customer focus, and be a real "go to" person.
