We continue to provide innovative care models, focused on improving quality and access to healthcare.ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Enterprise Intelligence (EI) enables WellStar's capabilities to drive clinical quality improvement and effective business operations. The EI department is called upon by all areas of the organization to provide insightful data used in forecasting, benchmarking, reporting and improvement effrots. The AVP of EI is responsible for providing leadership, subject matter expertise and influence to ensure the successful establishment, maintenance and ongoing operation of the WellStar Health System enterprise-wide data architecture and data strategy. S/he is responsible for developing a disciplined and innovative approach to analytics and forecasting, using both internal and external data sources. Candidates for this role have demonstrated an ability to make fact-based decision-making pervasive in a large organization. S/he will promote a data-driven culture embedded within the fabric of the organization's strategy and activities, ensuring that factual data insights directly influence actions. This role will effectively engage leaders and stakeholders across WellStar, providing a leadership role to data management, meaningful analytics and user friendly visualization of data in a way that is intuitive and resonates with internal clinical, business, and senior leadership customers. The AVP of EI collaborates with key leadership stakeholders to ensures effective data governance, consistency of data definitions and adoption of industry best practices. This individual will facilitate enterprise data governance and work within leadership structures to prioritize initiatives and ongoing work within resource capacity. This individual will help to identify, gain consensus, and drive the development and usage of key performance indicators (KPIs) used to improve the quality and safety of care and "run the business" based on identified strengths and gaps. This includes measurement, monitoring, and forecasting, focused on the day-to-day executive decision-making processes. The AVP of EI is an expert in the use of Business Intelligence, data analytics, data science, quality controls and data visualization methods. This individual ensures quality and integrity of data and meta data, ensuring the highest confidence in data across the WellStar enterprise, and enabling rapid progress and pursuit of WellStar's mission and vision. The AVP of EI provides expert recommendations for tools, data-use processes, and up-to-date & emerging analytics, including appropriate use of machine learning and artificial intelligence. Based on a cohesive plan, the AVP prepares RFPs, timelines & budgets, and once approved, will be responsible for delivering solutions in an effective and timely manner. Once solutions are deployed, this leader and their team provide ongoing support for effective usage of software and analytics, including a thoughtful mix of 'self serve' and 'EI delivered' reports. The AVP of EI will have an expert ability to lead and mentor their team in an effective and efficient manner, fostering collaborative teamwork and talent development. This role must embrace a Lean culture of continual process improvement and learning at all levels of the organization and within the department.Required Minimum Education: Bachelor degree required in Healthcare, Information Technology, Statistics, Business, Data Science, or similar discipline. Master's degree required in Information Technology, Statistics, Business or Data Science, or similar discipline emphasizing data use and scientific inquiry. Required Minimum Experience: Ten (10) years experience in the field of managing complex data sets, reporting and analytics. Seven (7) years of progressive leadership experience, including direct management of departmental employees is required. Knowledge and awareness of technology solutions in the market and available software/ hardware capabilities to address information delivery. Must be knowledgeable about current regulations that factor into setting appropriate data governance or information management policies (such as HIPAA) and understanding of basic technology frameworks for creating, modeling, retrieving and reporting data/information. Must have sufficient understanding of predictive modeling techniques, statistics, mathematics and computer science to direct the application of such methodology and tools in appropriate situations. Healthcare experience strongly preferred. Lean and/or Project Management experience is beneficial. Required Minimum Skills: Ability to help transform vision to strategy to execution to delivery of actionable insights across a large and diverse population of stakeholders. Integrates various data streams with advanced analytics to provide actionable recommendations and a compelling story to senior level leaders and clinicians using Data Visualization methods, Data Journalism and Analytical Storytelling. Demonstrated ability to make rapid, high-quality decisions based on timely, relevant and accurate information is critical. Ability to plan and direct activities of others to deliver a high quality product. Past experience managing a team of similar size, including the objective appraisal of their job performance. Previous success in directly managing and leading a team with diverse backgrounds and professional experience, capitalizing on strengths and improving upon weaknesses. Willingness to perform technical or analytical duties (within incumbent's area of expertise) alongside the team when needed to meet a crucial objective or timeline. Ability to work across teams in a complex, matrixed organization. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate and work with all levels of healthcare providers including physicians and senior executives. Ability to incorporate clinical, transactional, social determinant, and financial data into a comprehensive view of a population or process. Strong experience in applying quality control practices to ensure published data and analytics are accurate. Ability to identify and select the optimal data elements for new and existing clinical or business goals, needs and objectives in a manner that provides value in the eyes of the internal customer. Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills for audiences of varying backgrounds, including senior leadership audiences. Ability to effectively use change management methods to ensure success of challenging transitions. Understanding of statistical significance, confidence intervals, and diligent application of the scientific method. Demonstrated ability to utilize statistical methodologies as well as data mining and machine & deep learning strategies. Proven experience validating models against experimental data. Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision. Outcome-focused and has a collaborative style that fosters teamwork and a healthy work environment.
