Boeing's Space & Launch Engineering team is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer and Integrator to join our team in Huntsville, AL. NASA's Space Launch System (SLS) provides a critical heavy-lift capability, powering people and cargo to/beyond our moon and into deep space. SLS launches larger payloads farther in our solar system, faster than ever before possible. It will be the most powerful rocket ever built, enabling diverse exploration, science and security missions. Boeing is the prime contractor for the design, development, test and production of the launch vehicle cryogenic stages, as well as development of the avionics suite. This position is a Systems Engineering and Integration position to support our Space Launch System Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team. Position_Responsibilities * The successful applicant will work within the Systems Engineering, Integration & Test team in support of effective integration for generation and assessment of engineering changes across all aspects of the program, including assessments requested by our NASA customer. * Coordinates with multiple technical disciplines including Design, Integrated Analysis, Propulsion, Avionics, Test, Production, and S&MA to ensure proposed changes properly capture impacts to SEIT baselines (including cost and schedule). * Determines initial potential for impact of changes to Requirements & Verification, Interfaces, Mass Properties, Human Factors, and Electromagnetic Environment Effects teams, and subsequently coordinates with team members from those disciplines to finalize them. Must have working knowledge of these technical areas to efficiently and quickly determine impacts. * Effectively tracks and manages incoming and outgoing change traffic to ensure timely coordination of SEIT impacts with the program change management team * Comprehends and actively contributes to the program change management process and battle rhythm as a SEIT representative * Provides guidance to SEIT team members on proper change development and baseline management. * Clearly understands and can articulate and explain connections of SEIT team to key baselines, including cost and schedule baselines. * Coordinates with SEIT management and control account managers when appropriate * Evaluates proposed design changes for impacts to systems and multiple engineering disciplines. Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a US Person as defined by 22 C.F.R. 120.15 is required. Basic_Qualifications_(Required_Skills/Experience) * Minimum technical bachelor's degree * Minimum 14 years experience across systems engineering, systems integration, and/or specialty engineering technical areas * Minimum 5 years experience independently generating and/or assessing change requests in a baseline-controlled program environment * The successful applicant must have strong communication & teamwork skills to enable success in a fast paced & dynamic environment. The applicant must be capable of working with minimal supervision. Preferred_Qualifications_(Desired_Skills/Experience) * Systems Engineering degree preferred * Experience with space flight or launch programs (particularly NASA programs) * Project engineering experience including management of cost and schedule baselines * Demonstrated ability to teach others on change processes and baseline awareness Typical_Education/Experience Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
