Description The Pharmacy Practice Department in the College of Health Professions at North Dakota State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Department Chair. This is a full-time, 12 month appointment. The Department Chair is expected to assume her/his duties on July 1, 2020. The Pharmacy Practice Department Chair is responsible for managing the fiscal and human resources allocated to the Department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: - Overseeing and supervising all service, education, and research activities that occur in the Department - Supervision of the operating budget and partnerships with residency programs - Coordinating Pharmacy Practice faculty teaching assignments - Working with College administrators to mentor faculty and provide the necessary leadership to ensure that junior faculty successfully earn tenure and/or promotion - Preparing the Department's annual report - Facilitating Departmental assessment reports - Representing the Department at various University and professional functions - Overseeing recruitment, development, evaluation, and retention of faculty and staff through focused mentorship, guidance, and administrative support. - Promoting and enhancing the reputation and quality of School of Pharmacy at the university, state, regional and national levels by highlighting individual, group, and departmental achievements - Building, maintaining, and enhancing collaborative relationships with other healthcare systems, academic institutions, private entities, the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy, and state pharmacy associations - Promoting interprofessional collaboration and education within the College of Health Professions - Other duties as assigned. The Department Chair holds a tenured/tenure track faculty position. This includes: regularly teaching courses in the Doctor of Pharmacy program; advising Doctor of Pharmacy students; conducting research and publishing scholarly works; assisting the Department and its faculty in obtaining funding; and providing service to the profession and the University. Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.Requirements Minimum Qualifications: A terminal degree (Ph.D., Pharm.D., etc.) in a pharmacy-related field Licensure as a pharmacist in a U.S. state or territory Hold the rank of Associate or Full Professor Full-time academic pharmacy experience; Individuals who have split appointments between a professional pharmacy program and a clinical site are welcome to apply, so long as they have successfully gained promotion through the auspices of their academic position. Previous leadership and/or administrative experience. We view leadership and administrative experience broadly, including traditional administrative roles, the ability to manage a research team, or chairing committees that are vital in achieving the mission of your pharmacy program. A strong record of scholarship A strong understanding of all facets (didactic, laboratory, experiential and inter-professional) of pharmacy education Experience with academic assessment to support ACPE (Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education) accreditation Excellent written and oral communications skills The ability to work with others cooperatively Preferred Qualifications: Full-time academic experience as a tenured faculty member Maintain an extramurally funded research program Experience precepting Doctor of Pharmacy students Experience with distance education One or more of the following: completion of a post-graduate pharmacy residency or fellowship; advanced clinical credentials (e.g., BCPS certification); a master's degree in public health, education, or business.
