Job DescriptionCACI is seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to work with a dynamic team of ship Marine/Mechanical/Electrical/Structural Engineers and Naval Architects in our Washington, DC office.--What You---ll Get to Do:Provide technical support on various engineering projects alone and as part of an engineering team primarily in support of the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and the Military Sealift Command (MSC).Provide engineering services support to including Spec writing, electrical design, electrical power load analyses, panel sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, electrical circuit drawings, and work item development, selected record drawing (SRD) updates, cost estimates, ship checks and other technical work document preparation in accordance with drawing standards and good marine design practice.Assist in engineering, design, and installation of electrical power systems.Perform electrical feasibility and selection for Design in electrical systems with generators, motors, variable frequency drives, transformers, Uninterruptable Power Systems (UPS), control panels, HVAC controls, cables, timers, circuit breakers, power panels, batteries, relays, etc---Work with power factors, power factor correction (leading and lagging).Determine root cause failures and correct them.Ship Check military and commercial electrical wiring, repair and maintenance as well as electro mechanical-system troubleshooting.Read/redline schematics and work plans.Provide regulatory interpretations that translate into technical requirements which can be understood by contractors and field personnel.Write customer system specific installation and operator maintenance manuals which include detailed drawings, test plans and procedures.Coordinate the procurement of electrical components from commercial and DOD vendors to meet requirements.Collaborate with other engineering staff and generate electrical drawings.Review/Research ABS SVR/MVR/NVR, IEEE45/IEC Regulatory Rules and Commercial Regulations.Capable of learning drafting/drawing standards (ANSI, DOD, MIL).You---ll Bring These Qualifications:1-3 year's Electrical Engineering experience.Ability to obtain a SECRET security clearance.BSEE, BSE, BE, BSEET, ASEET, or equivalent education and experience.Ability to write clear reports and specifications in English.Ability to interface with team members, technical leads and Project Managers.Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.Ability to write white and point papers with minimal oversight.Proficient with MS Excel for calculations, Word, and PowerPoint.Good verbal (English) communication skills.Willingness to travel ---10% of the time.Perform work onboard a ship, which can involve climbing steep stairways, vertical ladders and working an extended workday.These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:Ability to create One Line Diagrams, EPLAs and Generator sizing with minimal supervision.Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standards ABS SVR/MVR/NVR, IEEE45/IEC.Fault Current Analyses/ Short Circuit Analyses.Experience with AutoCAD, NAVISWORKS and SKM Power Tools.Machinery Control Systems and PLC/HMI/Automation/Controls.Experience designing low power embedded systems.Shipboard and/or shipyard experience.Other Professional Qualifications/Degrees.What We Can Offer You:- We---ve been named a Best Place to Work by the Washington Post.- Our employees value the flexibility at CACI that allows them to balance quality work and their personal lives.- We offer competitive benefits and learning and development opportunities.- We are mission-oriented and ever vigilant in aligning our solutions with the nation---s highest priorities.- For over 55 years, the principles of CACI---s unique, character-based culture have been the driving force behind our success.Job LocationUS-Washington-DC-WASHINGTON DC METRO--CACI employs a diverse range of talent to create an environment that fuels innovation and fosters continuous improvement and success.
