Control Risks is seeking a Design Manager experienced in protective design elements to become part of a our Client's Global Security (GS) Design/Engineering New Builds team. The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge in design and project delivery processes to support the implementation of protective design elements on critical facilities. Specifically, this position will focus on protective design measures related to the "built" environment (e.g. site, exterior fa--ade, and structure) and their coordination with operational and technological security requirements.--Protective design elements include design solutions that mitigate blast, ballistic, forced entry, vehicle ramming, and surveillance threats. Our team endeavors to advance the state of security infrastructure development through strategic and innovative solutions. Therefore, candidates should understand critical aspects of design such that they can guide design solutions and their associated means and methods to minimize risk to people, assets, and reputation while reduce material/labor costs. Roles and responsibilitiesThis role is responsible for, but not limited to, management of projects associated with the design and implementation of protective design elements. The successful candidate will:Ensure that all protective design requirements and guidelines are clear, applicable and non-ambiguous. This will require working across all levels of the organization to provide background and educate technical and non-technical individuals on the protective design requirements.Work with design consultants to ensure that protective design elements are incorporated into contract documents according to standards, in adherence to local and international laws, and constructed within budget.--Attend meetings with project design teams with the purpose of coordinating protective design requirements, reviewing on-going project progress, and providing guidance on the implementation of standards, as needed.Review design team drawings and contractor submittals / RFIs.--Work with cross-functional partners, 3rd party vendors, and other subject matter experts to identify preferred design solutions.Balance short-term priorities while understanding and tracking industry standards and emerging trends to drive long-term strategy.--This may include performing research and developing analysis on new technologies and alternate materials, building models of cost and environmental impact, implementing pilots of new approaches, and presenting recommendations to business partners to identify the best approach for a given project.Support measuring the effectiveness of implemented standards by capturing and analyzing feedback from the regional teams to improve published protective design standards and design solutions.--Partner with other project specialists responsible for similar processes across the GS team to ensure consistency and alignment. Candidate qualificationsBA in Architecture or a BS in Engineering (Civil, Structural)5+ years of work experience in corporate/Technology/Industrial design, construction, operations, and maintenance or similar experience in mission critical and/or technical facility projectsKnowledge and experience with design and construction program management processExperience with site selection due diligence and master planning of corporate campus (or other campus style projects)Organization and communication experience with experience communicating technical details to all organizational levels (technical and non-technical personnel).Professional registration.
