The Advanced Capabilities Team (ACT) IntegratorLinux Systems Engineer is a member of the Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Integrated Systems Division (ISD) engineering staff in support of the Navy Training Baseline (NTB), Navy Trainers, and the NCTE. The ISD provides systems engineering solutions for the integration of NCTE live, virtual and constructive simulation technologies in support of US Fleet Forces (USFF) and the Number Fleets training and certification requirements. USFF and the Numbered Fleets conduct synthetic training and mission certification events between pierside ships, ships underway, virtual trainers and training centers during Fleet Synthetic Training (FST) events. The ACT Integrator works as a team member to develop solutions to existing training gaps for our customers. This tasking includes the development of hardware and software systems in accordance with standards, interface development using standard specifications, systems integration, and systems troubleshooting. Duties and Responsibilities Function as an integrator within an integrated product team tasked with developing to a new requirement Analyze requirement for Decision Point (DP) briefs with optional Courses of Action (COA) to address a clearly defined objective capability Review fleet messages, training materials and fleet requirements in order to develop use cases, operational concepts, and test plans Derive systems performance capabilities from a high level objective statement Communicate the system capabilities through briefs and documentation Develop milestones and the timeline for deployment of new capabilities across the enterprise. Act as a leader and collaborate with representatives from other divisions including Software developers, hardware manufactures, and cybersecurity accreditors Develop, deploy and sustain the engineering solution as part of an integrated product team Develop training materials, reports, and sustainment plans in order to sustain the system for use by external customers Education and Experience Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline plus 2 to 4 years of directly related experience is required. Educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 6 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to analyze and troubleshoot technical problems and provide solutions or corrections Has the ability to analyze technical specifications and provide a summary of key elements for the purposes of system design Possess networking concepts, architectures, and transport protocols like TCPIP and UDP Should possess an understanding of Linux and Windows operating systems and be able to use advanced capabilities of these systems Ability to provide technical project leadership, establish milestones, estimate resources, and other project management skills Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills Exceptional Experience may include General interest in computer technology and information technology Knowledge of US NAVY shipboard training systems ACTS, BFTT, TSSS, andor BEWT. Familiar with defense acquisitions, program development, and the fleet requirement funding cycle Knowledge of NAVSEA and or DODAF systems engineering Experience with hardware and software systems engineering Has a basic understanding of software application development Experience troubleshooting internet protocol networks using tools such as Wireshark, tcpdump, Plexsys, SIMDIS Desired certifications CompTIA Linux, CompTIA Security Security Must be a US citizen, currently hold and be able to maintain an Active Secret clearance
