LocationUniversity of Arizona Health Sciences Position Summary The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Arizona, in conjunction with the Steele Children's Research Center, seeks candidates for the Father's Day Council Endowed Chair in Juvenile Diabetes Research in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology. This position is open to scientists with an international reputation in research scholarship and education in the field of molecular endocrinology. A successful candidate will be a funded investigator who will lead the research program working in any aspect of type I diabetes immunology or beta cell biology, including stem cell therapy or islet transplantation. The research environment includes state-of-the-art modular laboratories in the Steele Children's Research Center - one of fourteen centers of excellence at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. In this state-of-the-art facility, internationally known scientists and physicians research the causes of and develop cures for childhood illnesses and diseases. Duties & Responsibilities - Maintain and continue to develop an extramural funded research program. - Participate in the activities of the Steele Children's Research Center. - Help promote professional development among existing faculty. - Attract and retain highly motivated and well-qualified faculty, staff and students to the Center. - Minimal patient care expectation for clinicians. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Minimum Qualifications - MD or MD/PhD or PhD. - A sustained record of peer reviewed publications and research funding. - Evidence of academic productivity with strong publication record. Preferred Qualifications - Demonstrated leadership of a successful and relevant research program. - National and preferably international recognition in the field of Type 1 Diabetes. - Ability to work with diverse students and colleagues, and experience with a variety of teaching methods and curricular perspectives.
