The ideal candidate must understand the opportunities and challenges of a relationship and service-based veterinary referral practice. Description: A Radiology Veterinary Technician is charged with the responsibilities of assisting with running a smooth radiology team to assist our other specialty practices within the building to get diagnostics done in a timely manner while providing compassion for each patient. The Radiology Veterinary Technician will be able to communicate with each practice and meet their needs and be able to troubleshoot equipment errors with the appropriate vendor to keep down time in the radiology department to a minimum. During moments of down time the Radiology Veterinary Technician may assist cardiology and internal medicine with patient care needs. Essential Functions: Assisting with Ultrasound needs including but not limited to; getting the patients entered into Cornerstone, ultrasound machine, shaving patient, properly holding patient for diagnostics, assisting with sedation as needed and making sure to return patient to proper practice in a safe manner. Assisting with CT needs including but not limited to; preparing patient, running machine, assisting with anesthesia as needed, notifying radiologist when ready for them and assisting with returning patient back to proper practice in a safe manner. Assisting with X-Ray needs including but not limited to; preparing patient and assisting with proper positioning. Assisting Radiologist in daily needs including clerical and patient care. Helps maintain charts, electronic medical records and other paperwork accurately. Calibrate and make sure all equipment is functioning appropriately. When issues do arise the Radiology Veterinary Technician may be tasked with contacting the appropriate vendor to resolve the issue. Communicate with all practices that use our services to make sure needs are being met to their standards. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Prefer a CVT but if not certified must be able to test and pass within a year of hire. Experience: 1-2 years experience as a veterinary technician in a veterinary hospital preferred. Physical Requirements: Able to be active, sitting, walking, standing, kneeling, stooping for long periods of time Able to bend at waist and knees repeatedly throughout shift Can push, pull, has full use of hands/fingers and reach above shoulders for an entire shift when needed. Must be able to lift 50 pounds Able to work well under pressure and at high levels of stress Hearing, vision, and speech at a functional level Exposure to supplies commonly used in a hospital setting such as anesthetic gases and radiation within appropriate OSHA standards Risk of injury from animals Person must be flexible with hours M-F. This position does have the opportunity to go to 4- 10 hours shifts after employee is properly trained. Employee must be willing to travel to Glendale/Peoria location on occasion to cover sick and vacation time.
