The Times and Democrat is seeking a full-time District Manager in Orangeburg. Hours will be early morning. The District Manager is responsible for--the overall direction of independent contractors and independent home delivery haulers.-- We--are looking for--a team player who enjoys working with people, is computer literate and highly organized.Other Responsibilities:Achieve net paid circulation, sales, collection and service goalsResponsible for the training and supervision of the zone managers and distribution driversDirect independent contractors and distributors in the assigned district areaOversee the sales of new subscriptions, retention of existing customers, auto-debit conversions, resell of expiring accounts, customer and carrier collectionsDeliver open and down routes, re-delivery of missed papers or product shortages as necessaryOversee the operation of crews and internal telemarketing in assigned districtDesign, develop and audit routes in districtRequirements:General knowledge of newspaper operationsValid drivers license and proof of insuranceMust be able to multi-taskKnowledge of basic of software applications: word processing, spreadsheets, Internet, e-mail, and databasesMinimum High school diplomaMinimum 1 year management experienceAny satisfactory equivalent combination of experience and educationMust apply onlineLee offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.The Times & Democrat is a division of Lee Enterprises, a leading provider of local news and information, and a major platform for advertising, in its markets, with 46 daily newspapers and a joint interest in four others, rapidly growing digital products and nearly 300 specialty publications in 22 states.
