We have an opening for licensed veterinary technicians to join our team. We are seeking candidates that are enthusiastic, experienced, team oriented and willing to continue learning and expanding their knowledge base. Our practice cares for a variety of challenging cases which requires a staff with an advanced knowledge base and skill set. We practice progressive medicine and have numerous advanced diagnostic tools available to diagnose and treat our patients. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS All the duties of a veterinary assistant Perform physical assessments Provide Treatments to patients, including SQ, IM, and IV injections. Comprehend the mechanism of action for drugs and their potential complications and side effects Calculate dosage of drugs Develop safety protocols for assistants Bandaging and wound care Induce and maintain anesthesia Prepare animals for surgery; assist in surgery if needed by the veterinarian Perform common procedures and laboratory analysis Monitor patients preoperatively and postoperatively Properly care for all surgical materials, sterilize packs, and maintain surgical facilities Effectively place and secure catheters Perform electrocardiograms Monitor recovering surgical patients Provide medical treatment as directed by the veterinarian Assist, educate, and act as a mentor to the veterinary assistants Prepare and read blood smears, cytology preparations, urine samples, and fecal smears Proficient at running chemistry panels and complete blood cell counts Complete any other tasks or duties assigned or required by other team members or supervisors CHARACTERISTICS OF OUR NGVS TEAM Team members understand one anothers priorities and difficulties and offer help when opportunity arises. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND/OR TRAINING Veterinary technician certification or licensure required (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) Associates or Bachelors degree from an AVMA accreted veterinary technology program, or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provided the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. High School Diploma required. Must be able to perform all required skills of AVMA accredited veterinary technology programs at a level in which to aid in the efficiency of the hospital. Two to three years related experience in a veterinary referral or emergency center.
