The focus of the work includes developing and conducting geotechnical field investigation programs, geotechnical engineering analysis, and reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with our Alaska operations that specializes in fundamental geotechnical engineering applications, permafrost related geotechnical engineering aspects, and rock mechanics. Our team thrives on developing client solutions for Arctic challenges. Responsibilities of the role will include: - Contributing to projects as a team member - Working primarily with our Anchorage team, with opportunities to work on projects in other industries and locations within Golder - Developing and implementing geotechnical field investigations and laboratory testing programs - Compiling data for site characterizations and conducting geotechnical analyses for soil stability and foundation design - Assist with writing technical reports that document field and laboratory investigations, engineering analyses, and design recommendations - Working with earthwork and drilling subcontractors and/or documenting heavy foundation construction activity - Developing technical skills and sharing these skills with other members of the project team Required: - Undergraduate degree in civil or geotechnical engineering from an ABET accredited university - Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam or the ability to complete the exam within 18 months of start date - Willing and able to undertake assignments that may involve travel and periods of time away from home office (30%) - Comfortable working in remote settings - Passenger vehicle driving will be required for some services - Demonstrating a safety conscious focus - Motivation to own and build your career - Maintaining a high standard of behavior to uphold Golder's reputation and demonstrating a commitment to our Core Values - Willingness and desire to learn computer based geotechnical and civil engineering software programs based on a fundamental understanding of those concepts Desired: - Master's degree from an ABET accredited university in geotechnical or civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering - Prior experience such as relevant internship a plus - Understanding of computer based deep foundation axial and lateral capacity software - Understanding of computer-based slope stability software - Microsoft Office Suite experience Your benefits at Golder will include: - Employee owned structure; - Competitive benefits and remuneration packages; - Opportunity to deepen your expertise in a dynamic work environment; - Innovative and collaborative multidisciplinary projects; and, - On the job training, mentoring and coaching.
