The Space Systems Engineering organization within the Systems Engineering Center is currently seeking a Lead Systems Engineer for our programs and pursuits. This position supports the Special Programs and Strategic Systems product lines. We are looking for an Integrated Space Systems Lead Systems Engineer who brings space mission system leadership, engineering, capture, and proposal experience to a growth oriented organization. Prior experience in satellite design, development, testing, and operations, or orbital analysis is desired. This role will leverage your knowledge of all elements of the space mission design process including initial concept development, system-level trades, requirements definition, spacecraft design, mission geometry, orbit selection, mission timeline, performance assessment, mission utility, and mission level cost optimization. The job responsibilities may include constellation MBSE. Knowledge of Space, Ground, mission operations, and Launch segment inter-relationships to support the optimization of a mission baseline is desired. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for defining mission concepts and supporting spacecraft SWAP, spacecraft design, performance, and affordability analyses, as well as trade studies for ground segment and constellation design. In this position, the candidate will be responsible for assessing architecture performance against requirements to identify technical risks, manufacturing risks, and cost drivers. The candidate will also be responsible for performing trade studies in spacecraft SWAP, performance, ground segment, constellation design, and affordability analyses. The LSE will influence the technical performance of all Systems Engineering activities and will assume the responsibility of all engineering decisions impacting system capabilities development, integration, verification, and work products delivery while ensuring the product meets all technical specifications, operational requirements and customer expectations. The LSE will be responsible for the generation and management of artifacts associated with a Technical Baseline which include Technical Performance Metrics (TPMs) / Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), operational views, architectures, compliance matrices, system specifications, interface requirements specifications and system designs. Required Skills: --- 10+ years systems engineering experience with at least 5 years working space systems engineering--- Experience with requirements development, flowdown, analysis, verification and validation--- Experience providing technical leadership to an engineering team throughout the entire product life cycle--- Experience generating systems engineering products to architect a conceptual mission architecture--- Experience with spacecraft bus design and bus subsystem design--- Experience leading development, systems engineering, and testing of integrated space systems--- Experience with orbit selection, design, and ability to conduct orbit trades--- Leadership skills to develop proposals for Government, commercial, and international customers--- Ability to work independently, determine and develop approach to solutions--- Evidence of problem solving and time management skills--- Experience working with multi-disciplined teams--- Excellent presentation skills and negotiation skills--- U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an Active DoD Secret U.S. Security Clearance as of Day 1 of employment--- Ability to access to US only data systems Desired Skills: --- Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with all levels of the organization--- Experience in Model Based System Engineering tools for developing architectures and functional analysis.--- Experience submitting proposals as a government prime contractor/integrator--- Experience with ground segment management, including ground software development--- Familiarity with tools such as STK, MATLAB, C++, and Python--- Experience with targeting, ground station pass analysis, constellation design, mission geometry, and stationkeeping analysis--- Experience defining technical budgets (Delta V budget, Link budget, Mass budget, Power budget, Propellant budget, Payload budget) and Orbit Cost Function--- Ability to carry out design of spacecraft subsystems--- Experience with small satellite design--- Experience with payload integration--- Experience with mission operations and CONOPS--- Knowledge of space radiation environment and orbital debris environment--- Knowledge of end-of-life and disposal approaches--- Ability to perform launch system selection and identification of launch opportunities--- Knowledge of ground segment, antenna services, and data distribution--- Knowledge of US Export/Import law in regards to space technologies--- Current TS/SCI clearance or ability to obtain one is desired Required Education: Bachelor's of Science (B.S.) degree in Engineering, Physics, Math, or related discipline.
