The company is responsible for structuring approximately $2 billion in debt and equity transactions a year along with servicing a $2.8 billion loan portfolio. The Associate will be a member of the underwriting & production team responsible for supporting the procurement, marketing and closing of financing transactions. --Roles & Responsibilities In this newly created position, the successful candidate will work with senior members of the production/sales team as well as the Head of Capital Markets and external clients and perform both financial and market due diligence on various debt and equity capital market transactions. This person will be responsible for managing transactions from loan origination through underwriting/due diligence and ultimately the closing process. They will assist with both the structuring and determination of the amount/level of debt/equity for each transaction and prepare investment memos to present to senior management. This person will get exposure to a diversity of product types including office, multifamily, industrial, retail, mixed-use, hospitality and self-storage. This role is an excellent opportunity to gain robust capital markets experience with diverse asset types. The person will have high visibility/interaction with senior management, the investments team, and clients. Responsibilities include:Apply fundamental valuation methodologies, identifying risks, and understanding industry dynamics Analyze operating statements, capital improvement budgets, rent rolls, tenant leases and ground leases Inspect real estate and complete detailed market research to substantiate underwriting assumptions Generate cash flows and valuations using excel, Argus Enterprise. Analyze, review and interrupt term sheets Model equity returns and waterfalls and analyze term sheets and synthesize critical elements for customer Respond to transaction requests and assist client in transaction closing process Other Ad hoc special projects as requested Requirements:Bachelors' degree in business, economics, mathematics, or other analytical degree. Masters' degree in real estate or MBA preferred Understanding of real estate investment and financial concepts. Prior Experience in underwriting / due diligence preferred. Minimum 3 years of real estate due diligence / analytical transactions experience either in a principal/owner or advisor. Prior experience with Excel and PowerPoint. Exposure to/experience with ARGUS preferred. Self-starter with excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, writing and organization skills.
